Factoids

-- Piccolyte® A125 polyterpene resin is one of six constituents used to manufacture the pressure-sensitive adhesive Morstic 132, an essential component in the operation of the Space Shuttle’s reusable solid rocket motors (RSRM).  Morstic 132 is used in the RSRMs’ case field joints, igniter joints, and the nozzle-to-case joint and aids in maintaining J-joint contact during initial booster pressurization.

-- Scripset® SMA resins are used in combination with starch to produce water-based adhesive labels for glass bottles.  The Scripset resin in the adhesive matrix not only allows the labels to firmly adhere to glass but also allows them to be easily removed during recycling.

-- The lubricant used in most commercial airline jet engines is made from either HERCULES® pentaerythritol or HERCOLUBE® PE ester basestocks.  These lubricants flow easily at very low temperatures (-40°C) and remain stable at very high temperatures (>100°C).

-- Entraining tiny air bubbles in fresh concrete mix greatly improves the strength and freeze-thaw resistance of the finished concrete.  Neutralized VINSOL® resin, a unique extract from pine stumps, has been regarded as the industry standard air entrainment agent for decades.

-- ChemVisions™ CA1000 curing agent is a proprietary polymeric resin that crosslinks soy-based adhesive systems.  Cost equivalent to traditional adhesive components, the technology provides exceptional wet and dry bond strength and superior moisture resistance without introducing formaldehyde into a formulation.  As a formaldehyde-free adhesive component, the technology allows producers of composite wood panels to produce environmentally-friendly “green” products.

-- From coast to coast, Foral® 85 hydrogenated rosin ester provides the tenacious adhesion and tack that holds reflective safety decals in place on traffic signage, trucks and trailers, and traffic cones.  The hydrogenated rosin tolerates UV exposure and high temperatures to deliver the specific performance required to adhere decals to metal, plastic, and non-uniform surfaces.
